>> Manufacturers defects

The difference between a Warranty Repair and a Maintenance Service

A Warranty Repair is a repair performed during the Warranty Period to rectify any problem caused by faulty materials and/or workmanship at the time of the new computer manufacture. It is normally free of charge.

Maintenance Services are the all-important regular inspections, adjustments and tune-ups. A service includes inspections, hardware checks, system optimisation, stress tests, viral checks and cleaning out accumulated dust. These are competitively priced by your PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre.

What is Not Covered by your PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty?

Software is not covered by the PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty, i.e. Windows faults, application faults, viruses, etc.
Repairs and service adjustments required due to equipment misuse or negligence are not covered. Misuse and Negligence includes the following:

>> Water ingress from spillages

>> Improper adjustment, repair, tampering or modifications by a non-PC Pitstop repairer

>> Accident damage such as dropping or crushing

>> Tampering or modification

>> Any use where the computer is not designed or marketed for that purpose.

>> Defects caused by the fitment of non- PC Pitstop approved parts, add-on parts, improper or lack of maintenance is not covered.

>> Scratches or surface rust caused by normal wear and tear is not covered.

>> Environmental damage, such as flooding, fire, lighting etc are not covered including moisture and corrosion caused by humid and/or seaside environments.

>> Incidentals such as phone calls, rental charges, inconvenience or commercial loss are not covered.

>> Damage caused by improper or lack of maintenance or ignoring warning signs and errors are not covered.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if there are any concerns with my new computer following pickup/delivery?
Because your computer is rigorously checked before it is delivered to you, it is highly unlikely you will find any problems with your new PC Pitstop computer. However, should you have any concerns or questions regarding your new computer in the first 14 days, bring it into any PC Pitstop for a Complimentary Assessment. The coupon is located in the front of your Computer Manual & Service Planner.

When and how do I get my computer serviced?
Your computer should be serviced according to the Maintenance Schedule in Section 2 of this book. The Trained Technicians at your nearest PC Pitstop can best advise you on the maintenance requirements to suit your use. Simply bring in your machine, along with this book.

Why is time just as important as use for servicing?
Don’t wait months to get your computer serviced just because you haven’t used it every day. Waiting can cause all sorts of problems, mostly due to environmental damage such as rust and dust building up, clogging and overheating parts. Be diligent with the Maintenance Schedule in Section 2 and you will get many years of use from your computer.

Who should service my computer?
Your nearest PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre, that’s who. After all, every PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre offers specialist Trained Technicians who work in computers day in and day out. They understand what makes your PC Pitstop computer ‘tick’, delivering quick and accurate diagnosis of your computer’s health.

Who is the best person to talk to at the PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre?
Talk to your Service Manager or one of the Trained Technicians at your PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre.

Is PC Pitstop Servicing more expensive?
The simple answer is no. After all, you’ll probably be entitled to PC Pitstop Service Advantage* where you pay the same low price from one service to the next, for the first 18 months or 3 services, whichever occurs first. Even after PC Pitstop Service Advantage, you’ll still enjoy value for money servicing and repairs at any PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre in Australia.
*Maximum payable for standard scheduled servicing (normal operating conditions) until first of 18 months or 3 services. Contact your nearest PC Pitstop or go to www.pcpitstop.com.au/advantage for other exclusions and eligibility.

If I have any problems with my PC Pitstop computer during the Warranty Period, what is the best way of getting my computer repaired?
Your new PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty provides comprehensive security against any unlikely faults in your new computer. However, if you need repairs, don’t hesitate to call your PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre. Every PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre is committed to providing any Warranty Repairs you may need.

Does opening my computer case impact on my PC Pitstop Black & WhiteWarranty?
Yes. You will notice the Warning sticker on the back or base of your new PC Pitstop computer. Breaking this ‘seal’ will void your PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty. Keep it intact and leave it up to PC Pitstop’s Trained Technicians to look after your machine, especially during the Warranty Period.

If my computer is out of action being repaired, are out of pocket expenses such as travel or commercial loss included in the PC Pitstop New Computer Warranty?
The PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty covers repairs or replacement of parts that are defective in materials or workmanship at the PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre premises. It does not cover claims for compensation.

What costs are not covered by the PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty?
The costs of regular maintenance servicing are not part of the Warranty. Please see What is not Covered By your PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty in this Section.

What happens to the PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty if I modify my computer?
The PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty will continue to apply to original components of the computer providing they have not been altered or adjusted in any way. Also, the PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty will continue to apply if your computer is fitted with PC Pitstop installed parts and accessories approved for your model. Any modifications or damage resulting from the modifications to your computer, are not covered by your PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty. For further information refer to What is Covered by your PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty in this Section.

Is software covered by the PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty?
Software is covered by the software manufacturer’s warranty but usually only if you have paid for their ongoing support. Due to its complex nature it is not covered by PC Pitstop and charges will apply to any faults that are related to defective software or faults in software. See What is Covered by your Black & White Warranty in this Section.

Where do I go for service after the Warranty Period expires?
If you’ve had your computer serviced by your PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre for the length of its warranty you’ll no doubt find it’s in excellent condition. So why would you risk going elsewhere now…

If I leave a long time between services, will this impact my PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty?
You must service your computer according to the Maintenance Schedule in Section 2 of your Computer Manual & Service Planner. Your PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty does not cover damage caused by inadequate maintenance.

If there is an accident or act of God, is my computer covered by the PC Pitstop Black & White Warranty?
Unless the accident is caused by the failure of a warranted part, your computer is not covered. In the event where your computer needs repair or replacement after an accident, we recommend that you contact your insurer and insist that your computer is repaired or replaced only at a PC Pitstop Authorised Service Centre.
