The Story So Far
PC Pitstop began in Camden Haven in 1998 by local boy Ben Waters.
Ben, an Electronic Engineer by trade, ran the Four Squares Supermarkets in Lake Cathie and Port Macquarie and dabbled in computer repairs in his spare time. Here he listened to the all-too-common complaint that many IT techies were considered cowboys - and cowboys without an ounce of customer service skills! Appalled that the industry he loved had such a bad name he determined to make a change and talked to his happy customers and mentor boss at the time about a lingering idea.
Encouraged, PC Pitstop was born.
Starting from a rented work bay in Laurieton, Ben grew his business into a full time onsite service organisation. Quickly outgrowing this, he moved into a bigger workshop with office and showroom in Bonny Hills. Within 12months work was more than constant and PC Pitstop took the next logical step to the Lake Cathie Shopping Centre where it remained for the next two years.
Business boomed. Capitalising on the passing trade from Laurieton to Port Macquarie, Ben and his crew of two would have customers dropping computers in-store in the morning and picking them up repaired by the afternoon. The public loved the fast and efficient service and PC Pitstop began to make a difference to the once tainted service industry.
Ben was also falling in love.
A chance meeting through mutual friends saw Ben fall for business-minded local artist and fellow entrepreneur Samantha Clark. The two became inseparable and started on a path to growing a strong community conscious business, employing local technicians and changing the face of the IT industry to one that was still knowledgeable but friendly and approachable, honest and reliable too.
In 2009 after a devastating robbery on the shop and the couples home, they shifted to bigger and brighter premises at Shop 8/1613 Ocean Drive, in the Lake Cathie Shopping Village. Now with a 15 bay workshop built to handle the constant flow of computers, six extra staff, and a comprehensive range of products for sale, PC Pitstop is the trusted name in computer SALES, SERVICE and SUPPORT for Camden Haven and the Hastings.
Step into July 2010, and with a growing number of customers making the journey from Port Macquarie to Lake Cathie for sales and repairs, Ben and Sam saw a big gap to fill and an excellent opportunity for expansion. The perfect location was found for PC Pitstop's second store - a fresh and spacious shop located directly opposite Settlement City Shopping Centre in the McDonald's complex!
Filled with interesting and exciting pieces, PC Pitstop Port Macquarie has something for every computer enthusiast. The same great service is replicated and the two stores are a testament to the close-knit and driven team. And with an online store and design site launching next year, it's clear it's only the beginning for the dynamic Team PC Pitstop!
